The Forum of Canadian Ombudsman organizes a new training course on "Skills for Effective Investigations". It takes place from 26 to 27 March 2013 in Regina, Canada. The two-day course covers the investigation process from the initial assessment of a case to gathering evidence, analyzing results, writing reports and crafting recommendations.

Newly appointed Ombudsman
The Office of the Ombudsman, Botswana is delighted to introduce, the newly appointed Ombudsman, Mrs. Festina Shale Bakwena, the former Director of Public Service Management. Mrs. Bakwena’s appointment will go down in the history of this country as a landmark, in view of the fact that she is the first woman to ever ascend to this highest position in the country since the inception of the Office in 1997.

Latest SYT training in Toronto was largest yet
The Ontario Ombudsman’s Office welcomed more than 80 participants to its sixth annual training course, "Sharpening Your Teeth". The course, the largest to date, included colleagues from ombudsman offices and other watchdog agencies from all over Canada.

Ombudsman becomes active on services providing legal aid
The Commissioner has established that it is more and more urgent to amend the Act on Legal Aid since several provisions of the Act may infringe the right of clients to due process. Máté Szabó has requested the Minister for Public Administration and Justice to initiate as soon as possible an amendment to the Act on Legal Aid.
