    Ombudsman appoints Kelly Burke as Deputy Ombudsman and French Language Services Commissioner

    On January 13, 2020, Ombudsman Paul Dubé announced in a press release that Ms. Kelly Burke had just joined his office as Ontario’s new French Language Services Commissioner and Deputy Ombudsman. Ms. Burke was chosen by Mr. Dubé and an expert panel in a nationwide search.

    Supreme Court Judge elected as new Ombudsman

    In 2014 the Norwegian Parliament elected Supreme Court Judge Aage Thor Falkanger as ombudsman for the current parliamentary term (4 years). Flakanger is the fifth ombudsman to be appointed since 1962; he succeeds former Parliamentary Ombudsman Arne Fliflet who left office mid-June 2014.

    Ombudsman Saskatchewan tables Annual Report 2013

    Saskatchewan’s Ombudsman, Mary McFadyen, tabled the office’s annual report for 2013. She acknowledged the work done prior to her arrival in April 2014 and thanked Acting Ombudsman Janet Mirwaldt for her leadership and direction since July 2013. Going forward, McFadyen said she plans to keep an eye on the way the province is providing services to a growing population.
