Prison administrators and inmates serving as “helpers” at Kaohsiung Prison tortured an inmate to death. They were prosecuted for the serious human rights violation of torturing the deceased inhumanely. The two prison administrators were convicted of torture and death by Taiwan Kaohsiung District Court.

London man has to give up job after council houses him in Birmingham
A man had to give up one of his jobs because he was given accommodation in Birmingham – leaving him with a three hour commute. An investigation by the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman has found London Borough of Merton at fault because it did not take into account the man’s employment status when making the offer of accommodation so far away.

This report draws attention to a problem that has become a regular subject of ‘public interest disclosures’ to the Ombudsman - nepotism in government schools. It highlights the need for school principals and staff to check and follow integrity obligations, and the need for public authorities to look for effective ways to embed integrity in their workplaces.
