The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia has received “A” status accreditation according to the Paris Principles, which relate to the status and functioning of national human rights institutions. This is the highest attainable status according to the Principles, which were adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1993.

Luego de que un grupo de vecinos se presentara en la sede Rosario denunciando falencias en el suministro de agua potable, la Defensoría del Pueblo de la provincia de Santa Fe, a cargo de Analía Colombo en la Zona Sur, remitió un pedido de informes al Ente Regulador de Servicios Sanitarios (Enress) para que en un plazo máximo de 15 dias brinde información sobre las zonas afectadas y los clientes eximidos de pago por dichas fallas.

2021-01-25Public Defender’s special statement on situation in penitentiary establishments
In 2020, the Public Defender of Georgia published a special report, in which she talked about the fact that the management model of semi-open establishments was based on informal hierarchy of prisoners, where the so-called "prison watchers" provide fictitious order, which aims to silence prisoners and prevent them from talking about their problems. The publication of this report was followed by public attacks on the Public Defender and illegal actions by the Minister of Justice and the Penitentiary Service. As a result, it has becomedangerous for the representatives of the Public Defender's Office to carry out visits and monitoring at the penitentiary establishments.

Several complainants approached Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Mr Asad Ashraf Malik, stating that they had deposited Rs.57,000/- each to Municipal Administration Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town for the allotment of small shops (kiosks), but they were neither provided the kiosks nor did they receive a refund of their deposited money.

León, Burgos y Palencia acumulan el mayor número de reclamaciones. Sanidad, educación y familia son las áreas donde existe un mayor número de quejas. Se han tramitado 1.771 quejas directamente relacionadas con la Covid-19. Aumentan las actuaciones de oficio hasta alcanzar los 94 expedientes, de los que 36 están relacionados con la pandemia.

Destaca que en democracias avanzadas como Irlanda o Finlandia esta potestad recae en el Ombudsman dada su autonomía, independencia y competencias. Propone suprimir las excepciones excesivas incluidas en la propuesta de ley de acceso y transparencia, de acuerdo con las que fija el Convenio 205 del Consejo de Europa. Rafael Ribó ha hecho una valoración general de la proposición de ley ante la Comisión Parlamentaria que lleva a cabo su tramitación.
