El 10 de mayo de 2023 se produjo un grave incidente de seguridad pública en el sistema de tránsito rápido masivo (MRT) de Taichung, en el que un tren fue incapaz de responder ante una emergencia y fue golpeado por el brazo de una grúa que cayó en las vías del MRT, causando la muerte de una mujer y 15 heridos. El Yuan de Control propuso medidas correctivas a agencias implicadas.
