Ontario Ombudsman to investigate government’s oversight of long-term care homes during pandemic
Ontario Ombudsman Paul Dubé launched an investigation into the oversight of long-term care homes by the province’s Ministry of Long-Term Care and Ministry of Health during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The investigation will focus on whether the oversight of long-term care homes by those ministries during the coronavirus crisis is adequate to ensure the safety of residents and staff.

Independent oversight to ensure the rights of disabled people are upheld during the COVID-19 pandemic
The Independent Monitoring Mechanism (IMM) is made up of the Disabled People’s Organisations’ Coalition, the Human Rights Commission and the Ombudsman. We are designated to monitor the actions of government under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Disability Convention) to make sure it is meeting its obligations to disabled New Zealanders.

Le Médiateur de la République pris part au séminaire sur la gestion des crises
Un séminaire sur la gestion des crises: quel rôle pour le Médiateur ou Ombudsman s’est tenu au Grand Duché de Luxembourg, le 24 octobre 2023. Le séminaire organisé par l’AOMF a réuni les Médiateurs et Ombudsmans de la Francophonie. Cette rencontre a permis des échanges enrichissants sur le rôle essentiel joué par ces institutions dans la gestion des crises sanitaires, climatiques et sociales, ainsi que dans la protection des droits fondamentaux.

L’ombudsman de la Ville de Laval, Nathalie Blais, a déposé le 10e rapport annuel de son bureau lors de la séance du conseil municipal du mardi 7 novembre.
