    Hoy, 24 de marzo, las Naciones Unidas celebran el Día internacional del derecho a la verdad en relación con violaciones graves de derechos humanos y la dignidad de las víctimas. Para conmemorarlo el ararteko Manuel Lezertua ha grabado un podcast con Roberto Moreno, coordinador del área de justicia, personas en prisión y víctimas de grupos terroristas de la oficina del Ararteko.  En el podcast, los dos conversan sobre el significado de este día, nos explican qué son las graves violaciones de derechos humanos y el derecho a la verdad, y su relevancia para Euskadi.

    En riesgo derecho al acceso a la salud de privadas de libertad

    Un centro penitenciario con estructuras deterioradas, con un 24.5% de la población en estado de hacinamiento, con acceso limitado a los servicios de salud, en donde el 17.06% de las internas padece de alguna enfermedad crónica, son algunos de los hallazgos que revela un informe elaborado por la Defensoría del Pueblo y el Mecanismo Nacional Para la Prevención de la Tortura y Otros Tratos o Penas Crueles Inhumanos o Degradante (MNPT), luego de una inspección realizada al Centro Femenino de Rehabilitación Doña Cecilia Orillac de Chiari. (CEFERE).

    COVID-19: nuevo reporte estadístico de la PPN

    La PPN presenta un nuevo reporte estadístico a febrero de 2021 sobre la situación de las personas privadas de la libertad ante la actual emergencia sanitaria. El documento alerta sobre un nuevo récord de personas alojadas en centros de detención no penitenciarios de la Policía de la CABA, la mayoría de las cuales con prisión preventiva e incluso con condena. En cambio, la población encarcelada en el SPF se mantiene estable desde hace más de 6 meses, luego del descenso producido en los primeros dos meses de la pandemia.

    Commonwealth Ombudsman reports into ACT Policing's engagement with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community

    We would like to acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, the traditional custodians of the Canberra region and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Today, the Commonwealth and ACT Ombudsman, Michael Manthorpe PSM, released a report of his investigation into ACT Policing's framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement. The Ombudsman looked at whether the programs, policies, procedures and training ACT Policing has in place to manage its engagement with the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community are appropriate and well administered.

    The Ombudsman sent a letter to the Secretary of State for Social Security and to the Deputy Secretary of State and for Fiscal Affairs, in which she requested that efforts be made in order to overcome the situation experienced by companies that have been awaiting, for several months now, attribution of extraordinary support for progressive recovery of activity, wherein the justification for the delay lies in the dynamics of articulation between the Institute of Social Security, IP and the Tax and Customs Authority.
