En 2021 la Institución ha celebrado el 40 aniversario de la Ley Orgánica 3/1981 que regula y desarrolla la figura del Defensor del Pueblo de España. En estas cuatro décadas de historia, la Institución ha tramitado 999.358 quejas, ha formulado a las Administraciones 25.376 resoluciones y ha interpuesto 31 recursos de inconstitucionalidad y 11 recursos de amparo ante el Tribunal Constitucional.

2021-11-17Peter Tyndall awarded Honorary Life Membership
Mr. Peter Tyndall, Ombudsman and Information Commissioner of Ireland and former President of the IOI, has been awarded IOI Honorary Life Membership. At its mid-term meeting on 15 November 2021, the IOI Board of Directors expressed its gratitude for Mr. Tyndall by acclamation for his long-term and very successful work as President of the IOI.

The report, tabled by New South Wales (NSW) Ombudsman Paul Miller, discusses the 24,733 contacts received by the office, including detailed data and general observations about 13,315 actionable complaints. Together, these provide a picture of the issues faced by NSW citizens receiving services from NSW Government agencies, statutory bodies and certain community-service providers, including the government’s response to COVID-19.
