Ombudsman Hong Kong investigates Government regulation of boarding facilities for foreign domestic helpers
The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, today (17 February) announced the completion of a direct investigation into the Government's regulation of boarding facilities for foreign domestic helpers (FDHs) and made altogether 10 recommendations for improvement to the Labour Department (LD), the Home Affairs Department (HAD) and the Immigration Department (ImmD).

Chief Ombudsman of New Zealand elected Second Vice-President
Peter Boshier, Chief Ombudsman of New Zealand, has been elected Second Vice-President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI). IOI Secretary General Werner Amon congratulated Mr Boshier on his election, underlining the enormous commitment he has shown to the organization since he was first elected to the IOI Board of Directors in 2016.

Chancellor’s year in review 2020/2021

The report covers the period from 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021 and it gives an overview of the activities of the Chancellor of Justice in the areas such as the rule of law, the rights of the child, the rights of persons with disabilities, and many others.

Ombudsman criticises care home for not providing records of how it spent resident’s money
The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman looks at individual complaints about adult social care services in England, regardless of whether that care is paid for or arranged by a local authority or privately. Where its finds fault that has caused injustice, the ombudsman makes recommendations to put things right for the individual, as well as recommendations to improve services for everyone. An Adverse Findings Notice is published in the very rare cases where the ombudsman is not satisfied an independent care provider has carried out its recommendations.

Ombudsman Thailand presents executive summary of Annual Report 2021
During the 2021 financial year, the Ombudsman received a total of 4,866 complaints. After fact-finding, decisions and recommendations to relevant government agencies were issued on 2,675 of these complaints. The remaining 2,191 complaints are still under investigation.
