BC Ombudsperson releases 2023 report “Time to Right the Wrong”
The Ombudsperson of British Colombia (BC) released its report on 18 July 2023. It addresses the recent complaints to the Ombudsperson from surviving members of the Doukhobor community, who were apprehended, institutionalized and maltreated as children in the 1950s. The report draws on information from a 1999 BC Ombudsman investigation and report, renewing the call for both an apology and compensation.

The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, announced at a press conference on 13 July 2023, the completion of a direct investigation into the arrangements for Housing for Senior Citizens (“HSC”) and converted one-person (“C1P”) units by the Housing Department (“HD”), and made eight recommendations for improvement to HD.

Le Conseil canadien des ombudsmans parlementaires (CCOP) a officiellement endossé un ensemble de principes clés visant à garantir l’indépendance, l’efficacité et la responsabilité des institutions d’ombudsman à travers le Canada. Ces principes, adoptés lors de la réunion du Conseil à Charlottetown, à l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, réaffirment le rôle essentiel des bureaux d’ombudsman dans la promotion de la bonne gouvernance, la protection des droits individuels et le renforcement de la confiance du public dans les institutions démocratiques.

Dépôt du rapport annuel 2024 de l'Ombudsman de Montréal
L'Ombudsman de Montréal, Me Nadine Mailloux, a déposé le 16 juin 2025 son rapport annuel 2024 au conseil municipal. Avec 2 164 dossiers traités, 192 enquêtes lancées, dont 50 de sa propre initiative, et 16 engagements obtenus de la part de la Ville, l'année 2024 illustre, une fois de plus, la pertinence et l'efficacité de cette instance indépendante qui veille à ce que les Montréalais et Montréalaises obtiennent les services auxquels ils ont droit, et que leur confiance dans la capacité de la Ville de corriger le tir quand c'est nécessaire soit restaurée.

The Office of The Ombudsman of Hong Kong presented its Annual Report 2022-23
The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, presented the 2022-23 Annual Report of the Office of The Ombudsman to the public on 12 July 2023. The Office received 766 pandemic-related complaints in the year of 2022-23, accounting for about 14% of the total number of complaints, a hike from 206 last year.
