New Zealand Chief Ombudsman farewells Tonga Ombudsman
Chief Ombudsman for New Zealand and 2nd Vice President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) Peter Boshier visited Tonga this week (30 January to 2 February) to officially farewell Tonga Ombudsman ‘Aisea Taumoepeau, who is retiring this month after nine years of service.

Tender for IOI regional subsidies 2022/2023
In their efforts to further increase the regional impact of the IOI, the members of the IOI Board of Directors decided at their Board meeting held in New York City in May 2022 to continue the regional subsidy programme for the membership year 2022/2023.

Ombudsman publishes Strategy 2025
The Office of the Ombudsman has published "Strategy 2025" - its strategic plan covering the years 2022 to 2025. It follows a record year for the Ombudsman with over 4,000 complaints received in 2021 about public services provided by government departments, local authorities, the HSE and others.

The Federal Ombudsman Office has extended its services to merged districts of former Tribal Agencies and opened its two offices, one in Sadda district Kurrum and another at Wana South Waziristan, to provide speedy relief and justice in those areas.

Child at risk of gang violence because of council failings
A four-year-old child was placed at risk of gang violence because Croydon council did not do enough to check on them and their mother when their uncle was released from prison and allowed to live with them, the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman has found.

Victorian Ombudsman delivers fourth biennial report card
Ms Glass has tabled in the Victorian Parliament her fourth biennial report on the implementation of her recommendations. Her report covers 51 recommendations made to state and local government bodies between May 2020 and December 2021. All except one of her recommendations were accepted by the relevant body, with 31 implemented in full and 16 in progress.
