2015-03-24Extension of term of Chief Ombudsman Dame Beverley Wakem
The term of former IOI President and New Zealand Chief Ombudsman, Dame Beverley Wakem, is due to expire in March 2015. Given the fact that the Ombudsman’s Office is conducting an important review of the Official Information Act and currently also reviews its operating model, the Officers of Parliament Committee recommends an extension to the term of Chief Ombudsman Wakem until the end of 2015.

A woman in her 90s suffered serious bruising to her face just before she died after falling in hospital, a Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman investigation found. The vulnerable lady was admitted to hospital with a chest infection and suffered severe bruising to her face when she fell out of bed, when an agency health care assistant was changing her bedding.

Just 13 months after launching an investigation into billing and customer service problems at Hydro One, Ontario Ombudsman André Marin announced today his office has received more than 10,000 complaints about the utility – its highest total, by far, for any investigation to date.

The Catalan Ombudsman submitted the Annual Report 2014 to Parliament. In 2014 the office handled over 27,211 actions, concerning 53.095 people of which 40% were related to social policies. The Catalan version of the 2014 Annual Report is now available online.
