African Ombuds Institutes Working for Peace, Security, and Development
Ombuds institutes have a special role in the social justice landscape of their countries that enables them to make significant contributions to the achievement of the SDGs and help close the global justice gap. A recent workshop allowed participating ombuds institutes to share their efforts to improve security sector governance as a core element of realizing SDG 16 on peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. 90th Anniversary Special Issue English Edition Released: CY Committed to International
To record the important historical facts about the progress of Taiwan’s supervisory system and human rights, the Control Yuan (CY) issued the CY 90th Anniversary Special Issue in 2021. After almost a year of effort, the English edition of the Special Issue was finally launched on August 9, 2022, in a demonstration of the CY’s ongoing commitment to working with the international community.

Implementation of Recommendations
The Commonwealth Ombudsman, Mr Iain Anderson, published a report, Did They Do What They Said They Would? volume 2, on 17 October 2022. The report contains point-in-time assessments that measure the progress made by 8 agencies to implement 73 accepted recommendations made by the Office in 10 reports between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2021.

CY, Concerned with Cultural Heritage of Indigenous Tao, Approves Investigation Report Providing Opinions on Sustainable Development of Orchid Islands
Orchid Island is located off the southeast coast of Taiwan. Spanning about 48 square kilometers, the island is known as home to the Tao people and for its natural attractions. Having had little contact with outsiders, the Tao have been able to preserve their cultural system comparatively thoroughly.

The South Australian Ombudsman’s 2021-22 Annual Report was tabled in parliament on 27 september 2022. The Ombudsman, Mr Wayne Lines, reported that for the first time in the office’s history, his office received over 5,000 complaints about state and local government, of which 4,948 were responded to during 2021-22.
