The Public Protector welcomes the Eastern Cape High Court’s dismissal on Thursday, March 08, 2019 of an application by provincial government Director-General, Ms. Marion Mbina-Mthembu, to have Adv. Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s findings on the plundering of public resources in the name of the funeral and memorial services of the late former President, Nelson Mandela, reviewed and set aside.

Polish Commissioner for Human Rights discovered alarming case of deprivation of liberty in psychiatric facility during one of his preventive visits. A citizen was placed in the mental hospital for stealing a bike. This happened 10 years ago by a court decision that was based on the opinion of a psychologist who had not even examined the patient.

L’activité du Défenseur des droits en 2018 montre l’augmentation de la demande d’accès aux droits
En 2018, l’institution a reçu 95 836 dossiers de réclamations soit une augmentation de plus de 6% par rapport à 2017 et de 13% sur les deux dernières années. 80% des règlements amiables engagés par l’institution ont abouti favorablement. En outre, le Défenseur des droits a répondu à 34 999 demandes d’information. Il a rendu 295 décisions, adressé 29 avis au Parlement et présenté à 108 reprises des observations devant des juridictions.

El síndic de greuges de Cataluña, Rafael Ribó, ha reclamado en comisión parlamentaria a todas las administraciones que adopten las medidas necesarias para proteger a los colectivos más vulnerables y en riesgo de exclusión. En este sentido, ha hecho una mención especial de los niños extranjeros sin referentes familiares que viven en Cataluña (MENA) y que están sufriendo ataques xenófobos y muestras de rechazo muy graves, como los incidentes de Canet de Mar y Castelldefels.
