Annual Report on the activities of the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture in 2022
On 18 December 2022, 20 years had passed since the adoption, by the UN General Assembly, of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. Thanks to the implementation of the OPCAT into the Polish legal system, the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture has been operating in Poland for nearly 15 years already as part of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights.

Seimas Ombudspersons’ Office pays visit to Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman
On 20-24 November 2023, Seimas Ombudsperson Erika Leonaitė and the advisors of the Human Rights Division of the Office visited Copenhagen. The study visit was organised by the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman's Office, which not only deals with complaints, like most Ombudsman institutions, but also carries out national torture prevention functions in accordance with the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

AOMA held its 7th General Assembly
The African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) successfully concluded its 7th General Assembly in Kigali, Rwanda, from 27-29 November 2023. Themed "Navigating Ethical Dilemmas in Mediation and Ombudsman Roles," this assembly was a pivotal forum for leaders and delegates from across Africa to engage in meaningful discussions regarding the evolving ethical considerations in mediation and Ombudsman services.

Convocatoria de candidaturas para las subvenciones regionales del IIO para 2025/2026
En sus esfuerzos por aumentar aún más el impacto regional del IIO, los miembros de la Junta Directiva del IIO decidieron, en su reunión en Rabat en mayo 2025, continuar con el programa de subvenciones regionales para el año de afiliación 2025/2026. Los miembros institucionales con dereches a voto válido que desean solicitar una subvención regional deberán presentar su propuesto de proyecto antes del 30 de septiembre de 2025.

Tender for IOI regional subsidies 2025/2026
The IOI Board of Directors decided at their Board meeting held in Rabat in May 2025 to continue the regional subsidy programme for the membership year 2025/2026. Voting members in good standing wishing to apply for regional subsidies can submit project proposals until 30 September 2025.
