The 10th I.O.I.World Conference, to be held in Wellington, New Zealand from 13 to 16 November 2012, will provide Ombudsmen from around the world with the opportunity to meet, share their experience and engage in fruitful debate and discussion. The conference website has been recently launched.

2011-08-04Discrimination in job advertisements
The Public Defender of Rights (Ombudsman), as the Czech equality body, responses for researching in the area of discrimination and his first research was focused on employment (job offering). Ombudsman analyzed about 12,000 job advertising released on one of the portals in April and found out that every 6th advertisement was discriminatory.

2011-07-14Preparations for I.O.I. world conference under way
The Ombudsmen and staff of the New Zealand Office of the Ombudsmen look forward to welcoming the ombudsman community to New Zealand in November 2012 to the I.O.I. world conference. Formal invitations and information about registration will be sent out in a few months and the conference website has recently gone "live".

Iowa State Ombudsman Ruth Cooperrider received a complaint on February 22, 2010, concerning the manner in which the mayor and several city council members for the City of Monticello attempted to remove the city administrator from his position. 2011-07-07Free SYT training for I.O.I. members
A regional subvention was granted to the North American region to hold a two-day SYT training workshop in October 2011 prior to the United States Ombudsman Annual (USOA) Conference. The training course will be presented by Ontario Ombudsman André Marin. We record our thanks for his continued support in this way.

The annual meeting of the I.O.I. Board of Directors will be held in Livingstone, Zambia from 30 October to 2 November 2011. The I.O.I. is looking forward to the fruitfull discussions and upcoming decisions and would like to thank Ms Caroline Sokoni, Investigator General of Zambia, for hosting this event.

On 24 March the adviser of the Chancellor of Justice performed an unannounced visit to the Ravila Care Home. It was a follow-up inspection to check the fulfillment of recommendation made after the inspection visit of 19 August of 2009.
