Protecting the rights of migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women and girls
52% of migrants who came to Europe in 2017 were women, according to the 2017 United Nations International Migration Report. Together with children, women and girls are the other most vulnerable groups most at risk from all types of abuses including trafficking, forced marriage or sexual exploitation. Up to 94% of them were trafficked for sexual exploitation in 2016.

Ombudsman celebrates 30 years of the Namibian Constitution
The 9th of February 2020 marked 30 years since the adoption of the Namibian Constitution. This year’s anniversary is all the more special as it coincides with the country’s 30th independence anniversary to be observed on 21 March. The Ombudsman celebrated Constitution Day across six different regions, with the main event held at the Dawid Bezuidenhout High School Windhoek.

The Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah has appointed Mr. Ajaz Ali Khan as Ombudsman Sindh for a period of four years. Chief Ombudsman critical of overcrowding at Henry Bennett
The Chief Ombudsman is calling on the Waikato District Health Board to address overcrowding, and the high use of seclusion and physical restraints, at its Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre. This is the first time he has released his reports into the conditions and treatment of people held in New Zealand’s public health and disability facilities. All reports on public health and disability facilities will be considered for publication in the future.

The Catalan Ombudsman and the IOI started a debate in Europe on artificial intelligence and human rights in Barcelona. The conference brought together institutions, experts, business representatives, Ombudsman and representatives of human rights structures. Participants consider it necessary and urgent to regulate the guarantee of human rights in international treaties, which could be violated by the application of artificial intelligence.
