Christian Britten Lundblad elected new Ombudsman
On 13 March 2025, the Danish Parliament elected Christian Britten Lundblad as new Ombudsman. He is succeeding Niels Fenger, who in October 2024 took up a position as judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union. Christian Britten Lundblad will take over as Ombudsman on 1 May 2025 after a period with High Court Judge Henrik Bloch Andersen as temporary Ombudsman.

Ombudsman announces results of direct investigation operation into Government’s arrangements for recovery, refurbishment and reallocation of public rental housing flats
On 20 February 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced the completion of a direct investigation operation into the Government’s arrangements for the recovery, refurbishment and reallocation of public rental housing flats, and has made 19 major recommendations for improvements to the Housing Department and the Hong Kong Housing Society.

Ombudsman hosts a delegation of CSOs to discuss cooperation
The Honorable Ombudsman for the Republic of Malawi, Grace Tikambenji Malera, has called for a structured relationship with Civil Society Organizations in the country over their mutual responsibilities of enforcing the law. Ms Malera said this when her office hosted a delegation of leaders of the National Alliance Against Corruption and the Citizen Alliance.

Veterans Ombud Releases Report on Additional Dependant Care Reimbursement
On 26 February 2025, the Veterans Ombud Colonel (Ret’d) Nishika Jardine released a report on Additional Dependant Care, a reimbursement mechanism designed to provide relief for additional dependant care costs incurred by Veterans participating in the Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) Rehabilitation Program. The report found unfairness in the rules for reimbursement that could result in some Veterans not being afforded the same relief as others.

Ombudsman Ontario kicks off 50th anniversary year with Good Governance Awards
On 28 February 2025, the Ontario Ombudsman Paul Dubé announced a new award for public sector bodies that have demonstrated exemplary administrative practices – the Ombudsman’s Award for Good Governance – as part of his office’s 50th anniversary activities. Awards will be given to selected organizations in three areas of the Ombudsman’s mandate – provincial government bodies, broader public sector bodies (e.g., school boards, universities, children’s aid societies), and municipalities, he announced.
