PAKISTAN | Provincial Ombudsman, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan visited district Torghar, Battagram and Kolai Palas

After successfully conducting the awareness campaign under the regional subsidy 2021-22 in District Hangu and Thall, another campaign was organized in three far-flung districts i.e. Battagram,Torghar and Kolai Palas. All the three districts are located in hilly and backward areas of the province. As per instructions of Ombudsman Syed Jamalud Din Shah, the awareness sessions were organized in District Administration Halls for public elected representatives like Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen and Village Councilors. The purpose of the awareness session was to communicate the message of the Ombudsman about this prestigious Institution regarding the role and responsibilities of the Provincial Ombudsman Institution and how they can benefit from this Institution free of cost.

Deputy Commissioners as well as Assistant Directors Local Government Department of the concerned districts were informed accordingly and were taken on board. They were also requested to inform and invite all the elected representatives of the district. Accordingly, all Tehsil Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen, Village Councillors, etc were informed. The following was the schedule.

The participants highly appreciated the visit, especially the awareness program under the sponsorship of International Ombudsman Institute (IOI). Since the districts are located in a hilly area, due to which most of the audience were unaware of this important institution. Due to the awareness campaign, they were informed about the role and responsibilities of the Ombudsman Institution. They further informed that it was the first official visit of staff members to their area. The participants highly appreciated the opening of a regional office at Hazara Division for their easy access to justice at their doorstep. During the awareness session, the following activities were performed:

  • Large size Panaflexes with IOI Monogram were displayed on the wall of the College Hall both inside and outside.
  • Brochures and informative materials were distributed amongst the audience.
  • Speeches were delivered about the aim and objectives of the awareness campaign.
  • Participants were informed about the purpose of the visit. They were also informed as to how a complaint can be lodged, process of investigation and implementation of the recommendations issued by the Ombudsman.
  • Question / answer session was conducted. At the end souvenir and Annual Report was given to the Deputy Commissioner by the Worthy Ombudsman.
