The 2021 Annual Report of the Commission Against Corruption of Macao was published in the Official Gazette of the Macao Special Administrative Region on the 3rd of August. It is pointed out in the report that, in 2021, despite facing the recurrent and ever-changing outbreak of novel coronavirus, the CCAC sustained its effort in making progress on its work in an orderly manner with an aim to accomplish its different tasks with all-out efforts.

Ombudsman engages with Final-Year MCAST Journalism students
The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon, held an informative session with final-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Journalism students of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST). This engagement forms part of the students' hands-on learning experience, allowing them to gain deeper insights into the roles and functions of key institutions.

New Catalan Ombudsman appointed
The Síndic de Greuges de Catalunya (Catalan Ombudsman) has a new incumbent, Ms. Esther Giménez-Salinas i Colomer. Ms. Giménez-Salinas was elected by the Catalan Parliament on 30 June and took office on 14 July 2022.

El Síndic de Greuges de Cataluña debatió el Informe del Mecanismo Catalán para la Prevención de la Tortura en la Comisión del Síndic
El 18 de noviembre de 2024 se ha debatido en la Comisión del Síndic el informe del Mecanismo Catalán para la Prevención de la Tortura (MCPT) de 2023. El MCPT visitó veintinueve centros con personas privadas de libertad e hizo recomendaciones para garantizar sus derechos. El trabajo en los centros penitenciarios es fundamental para garantizar la reinserción, pero la oferta es insuficiente y poco útil.

60th Anniversary of the System of Administrative Counselors
A ceremony of the 60th anniversary of the System of Administrative Counselors was held on 30 June 2022 in the presence of Crown Prince and Princess Akishino. The ceremony was held in order to re-acknowledge the importance of the role played by administrative counselors in connecting the public and the government, deepening the understanding of the system by the public, and promoting cooperation with local governments.

Ensure follow-up to Ombudswoman’s recommendations and the access to information
On 13 July 2022, the European Commission published its third annual Rule of Law Report, providing an overview of the trends in this area in the European Union. For the first time, the Report contains specific recommendations to member states, including Croatia. One of them calls for Croatia to ensure a more systematic follow-up to recommendations and information requests of the Ombudsperson.
