    Deputy Ombudsman in National Assembly on the position of older people from the findings of the institution of the Ombudsman

    On 24 January 2024, Deputy Ombudsman, Dr Dijana Možina Zupanc, participated in a meeting of the Committee on Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Disability, at which the issue of older people, primarily in retirement homes was discussed. She presented the basic findings recorded by the institution of the Ombudsman while considering complaints connected to older people, about which it also warns the competent authorities and reports to the National Assembly.

    Corruption perception results: NZ must be more open, says Chief Ombudsman

    The Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier says New Zealand must be even more open and direct if it is to improve its ranking as one of the least corrupt countries in the world. The just-released 2023 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index shows New Zealand has slipped to 3rd place on 85 points, after being ranked 2nd equal with Finland on 87 points in 2022.

    Al estar próximos a finalizar el primer mes del año, la oficina de la Defensoría del Pueblo en Pasco exhortó al Gobierno Regional de Pasco a retomar el trabajo de las instancias de concertación de lucha contra la violencia hacia las mujeres e integrantes del grupo familiar. Mediante este pedido, se busca evitar repetir lo ocurrido en el 2023, en que la actividad de estos grupos de trabajo fue mínima, lo que dificultó la reducción de los índices de violencia en esta región.

    The Office of the Queensland Ombudsman’s annual report for 2019-20 demonstrated how the work of the Office is improving public administration in Queensland. This year, the Office made 244 recommendations to public sector agencies to improve administrative practices and 100% of recommendations were accepted.

    Online learning and face-to-face training via videoconference. The IOI is pleased to offer its first online training course with a specific focus on media skills. Participants will learn how to approach media interviews with confidence and focus, how to manage difficult questions and how to bring across key messages.
