The IOI has started the first phase of its membership evaluation process, which will be conducted on a rolling basis. The first 60 members have received the evaluation forms in our three official languages and can choose which one suits them best. We highly appreciate your active participation in this confidential evaluation, which has a non-punititve charater. The final report of this membership evaluation process will be presented by the Office of the Secretary General at the 2020 World Conference in Dublin.

During the autumn, Ombudsman Stefan Holgersson will begin a series of inspections focusing on unaccompanied minors to see if their basic rights are being respected. The Office of the Parliamentary Ombudsmen receives a relatively large number of reports regarding cases linked to unaccompanied minors, and the trend indicates that these reports are increasing.

2017-06-29Inspector-General of Taxation review into ATO’s Fraud Control Management
The Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT), Mr Ali Noroozi, has accepted the Senate Economics References Committee’s (the Committee) request to examine how the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) addresses the risk of fraud and associated issues. The Committee’s request follows recent events including those relating to Operation Elbrus and allegations of tax fraud that may be linked to abuse of position by a public official. The IGT today announced terms of reference for this review.
