The Seimas Ombudsman, Augustinas Normantas, has met with the head of the Prison Department and the governors of prisons. At the beginning of the gathering, Mr. Normantas, the head of the Seimas Ombudsmen's Office, drew the attention of the managers of penitentiaries towards pressing problems in prisons, including poor incarceration conditions.

People with severe mental disabilities are very vulnerable and dependent on the care of others. It is all the more serious to find that they are exposed to mistreatment in what should be a safe home for them.
