2018-05-22Mandate of Human Rights Defender expanded significantly following constitutional amendments
Under the new Constitution of 2015 the mandate of the Human Rights Defender (HRD) has been expanded by including the power to facilitate the improvement of the regulatory legal acts related to human rights and freedoms. Following the Constitutional Amendments, a new Constitutional Law on Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia was adopted in December 2016. Within this constitutional function, a new practice of drafting laws by the HRD Office is being exercised.

The group of political party chairpersons of the City Council of the City of Copenhagen have determined that politicians cannot accept annual cards from the amusement park Tivoli Gardens. The City of Copenhagen says so in a reply to the Parliamentary Ombudsman.

2022-12-01Second meeting under MOU with Ombudsman of New Zealand
On the sidelines of the Southeast Asian Ombudsman Forum (SEAOF) Meeting, held 30 October – 3 November 2022, in Bangkok, Chief Ombudsman Somsak Suwansujarit held a second Ombudsman-level meeting under the MOU on bilateral cooperation between the Ombudsman of Thailand and the Ombudsman of New Zealand. The Chief Ombudsman further took the opportunity of this SEAOF event to sign a MOU with the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice of Timor-Leste.
