COVID-19 pandemic - urgent steps needed to protect the rights of prisoners
Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović calls on member states to safeguard the rights and health of all persons in prison during the COVID-19 pandemic. Convicted prisoners and persons on remand are among those most vulnerable to viral contagions as they are held in a high-risk environment: in general, detention facilities are not adapted to face large-scale epidemics, and the basic protective measures such as social distancing and hygiene rules cannot be observed as easily as outside, exposing prisoners to greater health risks.

Recomendación para autorización de telefonía móvil durante la restricción de visitas por COVID19
El Procurador Penitenciario de la Nación emitió una nueva recomendación dirigida a la Ministra de Justicia y Derechos Humanos de la Nación con el objeto de que arbitre los medios necesarios para que se regule la tenencia, portación y uso de aparatos de telefonía móvil de las personas detenidas al interior del Servicio Penitenciario Federal, como una medida paliativa mientras duren las restricciones y suspensiones a las visitas por COVID-19.

The guidance provides useful information to staff and health care providers working in prisons, and to prison authorities.
