2023 Annual Report of the CCAC of Macao published in Official Gazette
The 2023 Annual Report of the Commission Against Corruption of Macao was published in the Official Gazette of the Macao Special Administrative Region on 12 June 2024. According to the report, the CCAC proactively seized the opportunities in the wake of the revival after the epidemic and sought improvement in corruption fighting, ombudsman actions and promotion and education.

The office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Angola released its Weekly Review highlighting the week between 22 August and 1 September 2023. During this time, among others Ombudsman Ms Florbela Rocha Araújo responded to citizen’s concerns regarding land rights and permanent risk of eviction, participated in webinars, and attended a regional climate change conference.

Ombudswoman Submits 2023 Annual Report to the Croatian Parliament
On 29 March 2024, Ombudswoman, Tena Šimonović Einwalter, submitted a new annual report to the Croatian Parliament. The Ombudswoman’s report for 2023 provides an analysis and assessment of the human rights situation in Croatia, as well as 147 recommendations.

The Provincial Ombudsman Sindh stresses the importance of investing in the education of girls
In a follow-up meeting with the Education Department, the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh opined that countries that invest well in girls’ education have lower maternal and infant rates, low rates of HIV/AIDS and better childhood nutrition. Therefore, there is a need to assess the performance of schools and the quality of education.

The new Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, has started his term on 1 April 2024. The appointment for a term of five years was made by the Chief Executive of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region under The Ombudsman Ordinance (Cap 397).

The People's Advocate published report on monitoring the rights of refugees in the country
In the first half of 2023, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Moldova continued to carry out a careful and exhaustive analysis of the way in which the national public authorities managed the situation of foreign refugees on the territory of the country as a result of the armed conflict in Ukraine. As a result of this monitoring, the People’s Advocate together with his team prepared a detailed report, which was published now.

Bilateral Meeting under the MoU between the office of the Ombudsman of Thailand and the office of the Ombudsman of Western Australia
An invitation from the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand for Western Australian Ombudsman and IOI President, Chris Field PSM, to visit Bangkok and attend the 2023 Asia Region Meeting of the IOI and International Seminar proved a propitious occasion for the two offices to undertake a Bilateral Meeting under the MoU.
