New Zealand’s Chief Ombudsman and the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia signed the bilateral arrangement in Jakarta on Monday, 24 February 2025. The Ombudsman Cooperation and Support Arrangement was signed by Peter Boshier and his Indonesian counterpart Chairman Mokhammad Najih at a ceremony in Indonesia.

2021-03-30Ombudsman discusses freedom of the media and rule of law in Slovenia
On 26 March 2021, the Democracy, Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights Monitoring Group of the European Parliament which operates in the framework of the European Parliament Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs continued the discussion on the freedom of the media and the rule of law in Slovenia. Ombudsman Peter Svetina has accepted the invitation of the Group, headed by the Dutch MP Sophie in 't Veld, and participated in the second round of discussions in Brussels.

2025-03-28Public Protector of South Africa to deliver Thematic Lecture in Parliament hosted by the Office of the Ombudsman
As part of the Office of the Ombudsman’s 30th Anniversary commemorations, the office will be organising a Thematic Lecture focusing on the mandate of the Ombudsman. This event will highlight the crucial principles of transparency, fairness, and accountability within public administration. It will be held on 12th June 2025 in the Plenary Hall of the House of Representatives in Malta, under the theme “Transparency, Fairness, Accountability: Cornerstones of Good Administration - The Mandate of the Ombudsman.” The Office of the Ombudsman is honoured to welcome Adv. Kholeka Gcaleka, the Public Protector of South Africa, as keynote speaker.

2025-01-24Slovak Ombudsman visits Ombudsperson Schwetz
On 21 January 2025, the current Chairperson of the Austrian Ombudsman Board (AOB), Ms. Elisabeth Schwetz, welcomed the Public Defender of Rights of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Róbert Dobrovodský, and his delegation at the premises of the AOB. Mr. Dobrovodský was accompanied by staff members specialised in fundamental rights and NPM matters. The purpose of this inaugural visit was an exchange on thematic areas such as police matters and human rights.
