AUSTRALIA | Western Australian Ombudsman provides address at the 32nd Annual Silent Domestic Violence Memorial March

Following being welcomed to country by Glenda Kickett, Samuel-Yombich Pilot-Kickett and the Della Mob, the President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and Western Australian Ombudsman, Chris Field, was honoured to address the 32nd Annual Silent Domestic Violence Memorial March.

“I express my thanks to Dr Alison Evans, and the Centre for Women's Safety and Wellbeing, for organising this event and indeed all the work they do in our community to keep women safe. Most importantly of all, I recognise and stand with every woman here today who has been subjected to the crime of men’s violence. A lack of respect for women, discrimination, sexism, misogyny, violence and fatal violence are tragically historic and current truths of our society and societies all around the world. But together we have done much and together we will do much more” said Ombudsman Field.

“As President of the International Ombudsman Institute, as an officer in service of the Western Australian Parliament and as Western Australian Ombudsman, I am committed to working to end violence against women and the trauma and tragedy that inevitably flows from this violence. I will do so together with my exceptional staff, many of whom join me today at this march, and alongside of our first responders in government agencies and our colleagues in civil society” said Ombudsman Field.
