AFRICA | Webinar on ethical and accountable leadership - video link and speaking notes available

The Ombudsman is an independent, impartial public official with authority and responsibility to receive and investigate complaints about government actions. Accountability, in turn, is essential for the effective functioning of administrative institutions and the delivery of public  services. A core objective of the Ombudsman institution should be to promote and monitor high ethical standards in public administration.

In a webinar held on 14 December 2021, participants discussed whether there is a need for a general code of ethics for Ombudsman and the role Ombudsman Institutions play in delivering openness and transparency. Speaker included European Ombudsman Emily O’Reilly, UK Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman Rob Behrens, and Hon. Judge Florence Mumba, former Ombudsman of Zambia.

If you were not able to join the event, you can re-watch the recording through THIS VIDEO LINK and see the presentation from speakers further down below.
