HUNGARY | Visit to the emergency centre of the Coronavirus Operational Group

On 17 April 2020, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma paid a visit to the Emergency Centre of the Coronavirus Operational Group at the Ministry of Interior, where the Ombudsman was received by Head of the Emergency Centre Colonel Tibor Lakatos.

The Operational Group for the Protection against the Coronavirus Epidemic was established by the Hungarian Government in order to fight against the new coronavirus.

The aim of the measures included in the Action Plan adopted by the Operational Group is to filter and localise any possible cases of the infection in Hungary, as well as to coordinate the tasks of state bodies in order to effectively organise healthcare and epidemiological measures. The Operational Group continuously analyses the current situation and, if necessary, introduces further measures.

During the visit, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights was provided with detailed information about the operation of the Emergency Centre, which had been working continuously for 52 days.
