THAILAND | Thai Ombudsman mourns passing of Mr. Pramote Chotimongkol

The Ombudsman of Thailand is deeply mourning the loss of the former Chief Ombudsman – Mr Pramote Chotimongkol - who passed away on 12 August 2021, at the age of 77. 

Mr. Pramote Chotimongkol was one of the founders of the Thai Ombudsman institution. He was later appointed the first Secretary-General of the Office of the Ombudsman in 2000 and was royally appointed Ombudsman in 2005 and Chief Ombudsman in 2010, respectively. With the aforementioned background, he became the longest-serving executive of the Thai Ombudsman Office (11 years). 

Mr. Pramote Chotimongkol was highly admired and respected by his staff and colleagues for his amiability as well as untiring dedication to the development of the Office. During his roles, he steered the international relationships with several Ombudsman institutions to foster academic cooperation and exchange of experience to strengthen the Ombudsman mechanism in Thailand. His devotion and initiation for not only the growth of the Thai Ombudsman institution, but also for public interests and public benefits have always been cherished and will remain a valuable inspiration to the Ombudsman community.
