INDONESIA | Short version of the Indonesia Ombudsman’s Annual Report 2024 now available as e-book

The book titled "Annual Report Ombudsman RI 2024" provides an overview of the Ombudsman Republic Indonesia’s key achievements and performance throughout 2024 in short version. This annual report’s theme is "Strengthening Oversight, Advancing Maladministration Prevention." It documents the handling of 10,837 community reports, with 10,383 cases successfully resolved, showcasing the Ombudsman's commitment to effective public service oversight and accountability. The complaints cover a wide range of sectors, including Agrarian Affairs (1,861 reports), State Apparatus (1,354), and Education (1,041).

The Indonesia Ombudsman’s vision is "To become an effective, independent, and just oversight institution that ensures the delivery of high-quality public services." This vision drives their proactive approach to governance, including:

  • Quick Response: For example, when delays in the issuance of halal product certification were reported, the Ombudsman quickly coordinated with BPJPH, identified administrative delays, and provided recommendations that reduced certification backlog within a month.
  • Own Motion Investigation: Independently initiated investigations, such as monitoring the logistics and distribution readiness of election ballots, revealed coordination challenges between electoral bodies and local governments, prompting strategic recommendations to prevent disruption in the election process.

This publication is expected to be a reference for Indonesia government officials, public institutions, policy makers, academics, and the general public to increase transparency, improve governance, and build trust in order to create better public services and a just society.
