ANGOLA | Ombudsman receives in audience the Services Manager of Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of the Canadian Embassy in Angola, Gavin Nardocchio-Jones

The Ombudsman of the Republic of Angola made a specific approach to the role of the Ombudsman in Angola, emphasizing the scope of action, extent of services, most recurring cases, number of complaints, etc.

She also spoke about Angola's experience in the Presidency of the CPLP Network of Ombudsmen, Regional Directorate of the International Ombudsmen Institute – IOI and Presidency of the African Ombudsmen and Mediators Association – AOMA.

The diplomat Gavin Nardocchio-Jones expressed interest in cooperating with the Ombudsman Institution, also mentioning that as his country's national development policy is feminist, Canada intends to maintain close collaboration with the Angolan institution, in order to contribute to the significant increase in the role of women in different development projects.

Within the scope of the Ombudsman's Office's priorities, particularly those related to human rights and existing partnerships, such as the UNDP, Canada also intends to cooperate, which is why the meeting aimed, among other objectives, at understanding the institution's different priorities.

This cooperation can also be extended to the area of language training, as it can help the Ombudsman's Office in translating its manuals into English and French.
