Azerbaijan | Ombudsman meets delegation from Japan

The Ombudsman received the delegation led by Mr. Hideo Ohnishi, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Akiro Sanno, an attaché of the Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan.

The aim of the visit was to get acquainted with the activities of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman. During the meeting the Ombudsman gave broad information about her activities on protection of Human Rights of different groups of population and also close cooperation with international organizations, international and regional ombudsman institutions, including International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), European Ombudsman Institute (EOI), Asian Ombudsmen Association (AOA).

The Ombudsman spoke about awareness raising on protection and promotion of Human Rights as well as the reproductive health and family planning in the country regions covering IDP settlements and her positive experience of community-based services in this field.

Mr. Hideo Ohnishi extended thanks to the Ombudsman on behalf of the delegation, expressed his hope for mutual cooperation in future and that the Ombudsman will continue to contribute to the work in human rights field and enhance her activities in Asian countries as the vice-president of the AOA.
