PAKISTAN | NEW LAW ENABLES REAPPOINTMENT OF PROVINCIAL OMBUDSMAN SINDH

On 5th March, 2012 the Provincial Assembly of Sindh unanimously passed an amendment to Article 4  of the Act regulating the office of the Ombudsman for the province of Sindh making the position of the Ombudsman eligible for reappointment.

Based on this new legislation and in consultation with the Chief Minister of Sindh the tenure of present Ombudsman Asad Ashraf Malik was extended by a period of four years. Mr. Malik was sworn in by the Governor of Sindh during a ceremony held at the Governor´s House in Karachi.
