IOI | Message from the new IOI President

Dear Members of the IOI,

It is with profound honor and humility that I address you as the new President of our organization. The recent weeks have not been without challenges, but they have also reminded us of the strength, resilience, and shared purpose that unite us as ombudsman institutions across the globe.

As I take on this responsibility, my vision is clear: to build on the remarkable work of those who came before us, while ensuring that every region’s voice is heard, every priority respected, and every unique characteristic celebrated. Our diversity is our greatest strength, and it is through this richness that we will shape the future of the IOI.

I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to so many of you—colleagues from every corner of the world and those closer to home—who have reached out to offer your support, encouragement, and trust. Your messages and gestures of solidarity have deeply touched me. They remind me that leadership is never a solitary journey; it is a shared endeavor built on collaboration and mutual confidence. Knowing that I can count on your engagement strengthens my resolve to serve with integrity and dedication.

Now more than ever, the world needs what we stand for—fairness, accountability, and the protection of fundamental rights. The IOI is uniquely positioned to be a global leader, a trusted interlocutor with major international organizations, and a powerful advocate for the principles that define us. Ombudsman institutions are not just relevant; they are essential to the health of democracies and the dignity of individuals. Why not fully harness this potential?

Let us seize this moment to elevate the IOI to new heights—strengthening our networks, amplifying our collective voice, and ensuring that the role of the ombudsman is recognized as indispensable worldwide. This is our time to lead, to innovate, and to inspire.

I look forward to working with each of you as we embark on this journey together.

With determination and optimism,

Nadine Mailloux

IOI President
