IOI | IOI President visits the city of Fes during official visit to Morocco

IOI President Chris Field PSM undertook a cultural visit to the city of Fes on the occasion of his official visit to Morocco.

The President’s hosts, led by the Mediator of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Benalilou, took the President on a tour of Fes El Bali, the ancient walled Medina, where they spent considerable time in the vast 9th-century Karaouiyne University, a university originally founded as a Mosque by Fatima al-Fihri in 857–859. The tour included examining one of the most ancient copies of the Koran anywhere in the world and witnessing expert craftspeople refurbishing and preserving texts that are many centuries old.

“One of the most important parts of any official visit to a country is to undertake cultural, religious and social exchange. On my second day in Morocco, it was my great honour to visit Fes. I sincerely thank my wonderful hosts for providing me this magnificent experience” said President Field.
