SIERRA LEONE | Introducing the New Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone

Emmanuel Tondoneh ESQ is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Sierra Leone with distinguished expertise in corporate and commercial transactions, mining law, and regulatory compliance across sectors including mining, telecommunications, employ ment, and financial services. He holds an LLB (Hons) from De Montfort University, an LLM (Distinction) in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of Dundee, and is pursuing PhD research in corporate insolvency, focusing on protecting local credito rs in cross border proceedings w ithin Anglophone jurisdictions.

Emmanuel's career spans senior roles in both public and private sectors, including State Counsel in the Attorney General s Chambers, Head of Legal at Sierra Rutile Limited (Iluka Resources), and Legal Counsel/Company Secretary at London Mining Limited and Timis Mining Corporation. He has led and advised on landmark mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring transactions, including the USD 1.5 billion Shandong acquisition in African Minerals, First Bank Nigeria's acquisition of International Commercial Bank, and Vista Group s acquisition of First International Bank. His advisory work extends to top tier international firms and institutions such as BlackRock Plc, Webber Wentzel, Freshfields, and Clyde & Co.
