Taiwan | Control Yuan Annual Report 2018

Continuously with its constitutional powers, the Control Yuan (CY) has maintained its independent and impartial position and been meticulous in its approach to bringing overall improvement to government, protecting human rights, and promoting good governance.

CY recently published the 2018 Annual Report with explanation of its achievements and performance. In 2018, the CY received 16,419 filed complaints, with corrective measures carried out in 100 cases and impeachment in 18 cases. Following the recommendations of the corrective measures helped save the government approximately US$900 thousand in spending and boost revenues by US$521.55 million. Among the total of 345 investigation reports reviewed and passed by the committees and selected by CY members, 221 were related to human rights, with those concerning the right to subsistence and health, followed by the right to judicial impartiality and the right to property.

The Annual Report also includes 6 case summaries, which are categorized into public expenditures, upholding discipline and safeguarding human rights.

In hopes of promoting exchanges and mutual understandings with our IOI members, the Annual Report, published in both English and Spanish, is also available on the CY website.
