IOI | Board of Directors holds annual meeting in Curaçao

At its annual meeting, the IOI Board took important decisions to guide the IOI’s path in the upcoming membership year.

The Board elected the host of the next 14th IOI World Conference and General Assembly in 2028. It approved training initiatives that will be offered to IOI members in 2026 - 2027, agreed to continue the IOI’s successful regional subsidies program to fund Ombudsman-related projects in the regions, and approved the next Best Practice Paper, which will be published on the IOI website soon.

Furthermore, the Board adopted guidelines on important matters, such as an editorial guide for official IOI communications, or ethics principles to guide the work of Ombudsman and agreed to strengthen its cooperation with the United Nations and the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission to enhance the visibility of the UN Resolution on Ombudsman and Mediator Institutions and the Venice Principles.

The outcome of this meeting will ensure that members continue to benefit from the IOI’s services and activities in the best way possible and that the IOI keeps making substantial progress in the future.
