PAKISTAN/SINDH | Accountant General Sindh pays 7% cost of living allowance to the complainant

Mr. Sultan Ahmed S/o Foujdar approached Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik, Provincial Ombudsman Sindh stating that he was retired from Sindh Police on 03.12.1999. Later on, the Government of Pakistan, Finance Division (Regulation Wing) allowed 7% cost of living allowance in the pensionable emoluments of retired employees but the Accountant General Sindh allegedly delayed his matter for allowing said allowance.

Provincial Ombudsman Sindh initiated prompt action to redress the grievance of retired government servant. During investigation it was revealed that according to Finance Department’s Office memorandum complainant was entitled to 7% cost of living allowance, but A.G. Sindh was deliberately depriving the retired government servant of his legitimate right.

Due to intervention of the Ombudsman, process and procedure of scrutiny by the concerned department was expedited and A.G. Sindh issued authority regarding 7% cost of living allowance in favour of complainant.

The complainant appreciated the role of the Ombudsman for taking prompt action and providing speedy justice to him.
