In Kevin Brezinski’s latest public report, systemic issues were uncovered within the Alberta Adult Health Benefit program and Alberta Child Health Benefit program, operated jointly by Alberta Health and Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS).

El pasado mes de marzo un interno del Centro Penitenciario Mas d'Enric, que realizaba funciones de auxiliar de cocina, mató con un cuchillo a Núria, una cocinera del centro, y a continuación se suicidó.

En señal de protesta e indignación, numerosos trabajadores penitenciarios protagonizaron bloqueos en los accesos a los centros penitenciarios de Cataluña que provocaron afectaciones al funcionamiento habitual de los centros. Ante estos hechos, organizaciones sociales de protección de derechos humanos, abogados y familiares de personas privadas de libertad se dirigieron a la institución del Síndic de Greuges para denunciar las afectaciones que sufrían los internos como consecuencia de este bloqueo.

The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) has launched new guidance to support Scottish public services in taking a Child Friendly approach to complaints, following the introduction of a new legal Act in Scotland.

The Federal Ombudsman of Belgium published a new information brochure for whistleblowers. It is an informative and practical tool with the most important information for whistleblowers who want to make a report to the Federal Ombudsman. The brochure sets out the procedures for making a report and for obtaining protection from the Belgian institution.

On 25 June 2024, Parliamentary Ombudsman Petri Jääskeläinen submitted his Annual Report 2023 to Speaker of Parliament Jussi Halla-aho. In 2023, there were a total of 7,124 complaints (6,613 in 2022). This is just over 500 (7.7%) more than the previous year. The largest number of complaints concerned social welfare 1,136 (997), the police 855 (821), healthcare 803 (751) and criminal sanctions 591 (672). In the reporting year, 6,876 complaints were resolved. The corresponding figure in 2022 was 6,857.

First follow-up session of Brand Ambassador Program was held on 10 July 2024 at the Secretariat Provincial Ombudsman Sindh with the 10 selected students as Ambassadors for Ombudsman Sindh from the Sindh Madressatul Islam University. Mr Mustafa Jatio, Assistant Director SMIU accompanied the students. 

On 25 June 2024, the Knesset (Israeli parliament) hosted a special event to mark "National Ombudsday", on the theme: "The investigation of complaints in a state of emergency".

The Office of the Ombudsman has released the 2023 Annual Report which presents the activities that the Office carried out in the year. Pursuant to the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi and the Ombudsman Act, the Ombudsman has submitted the report to the National Assembly through the Office of the speaker.
