On 17 December 2019 the third International Conference on “Human rights protection in Eurasia: exchange of best practices of ombudsmen” was organized by the Russian Human Rights Commissioner Ms Tatiana Moskalkova and took place in Moscow.

 

The Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia announced an essay competition titled “My Friend” as a part of the #changetheworld awareness campaign to promote inclusive education. The award ceremony took place in November 2019 and the winners received prizes. The best essays have been published with the consent of the children.

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) called for humane and effective solutions in migration issues on International Migrants Day on 18 December. FRA highlighted that in 2019, migrants globally will top an estimated 272 million, of which many move by choice. However, many others flee armed conflict, persecution, or serious human rights violations. In 2018, the number of forcibly displaced people broke 70 million for the first time ever.

El Subsecretario General a cargo del Defensor del Pueblo de la Nación de Argentina, Dr. Juan José Bóckel, firmó un Convenio de Cooperación Técnica con el Procurador General de la Nación interino, Dr. Eduardo Casal, representante del Ministerio Público Fiscal, para trabajar conjuntamente en materia de prevención, investigación y sanción de los femicidios.

“Situación de los Derechos de las Mujeres Indígenas en el Perú”, así titula el informe presentado hoy por la Defensoría del Pueblo. Este sector de la población sufre mayores violaciones a sus derechos humanos que las mujeres no indígenas. En ese contexto, se invoca al gobierno a brindar atención a la exclusión y desigualdad que afecta todos los aspectos de la vida de al menos tres millones de niñas, adolescentes y mujeres indígenas.

The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has found serious failings at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust after a six-month-old baby died because his heart defect was not diagnosed and treated, despite multiple opportunities to do so.
