An invitation from the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand for Western Australian Ombudsman and IOI President, Chris Field PSM, to visit Bangkok and attend the 2023 Asia Region Meeting of the IOI and International Seminar proved a propitious occasion for the two offices to undertake a Bilateral Meeting under the MoU.

As part of his official visit to Thailand, IOI President Chris Field PSM was delighted to be invited to participate in the Australian Embassy Speaker Series. President Field was joined by his friend and colleague, Ombudsman of Thailand, Songsak Saicheua.

The Ombudsperson addressed a Recommendation to the Minister of Internal Administration, drawing attention to the collection of undue charges by the security forces and renewing her appeal for a definitive solution to the lack of delivery of proof of payment for denunciations made by citizens.

The Office of the Ombudsman in Malawi has released its 2022 Annual Report, highlighting some of the successes registered in the year under review and prospects for 2023. Ombudsman Grace Malera presented the report before the Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, 4 July 2023.

The regular working meeting of the Forum for Dialogue between the Ombudsperson’s Institution and Civil Society Organizations was held on Thursday 14 July 2023, in Pristina. In this meeting, the cooperation of the Ombudsperson and civil society in undertaking joint initiatives for the protection of basic human rights and freedoms in the country was highly appreciated.
