2015-07-23Agriculture Government of Sindh pays cost differential to complainant
The complainant approached Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik with the issue that Agriculture Department awarded contract to his firm for construction of road for improvement of Cane Yard. The construction work was carried out as per Public Works Department rules with clear provision that in case of cost escalation the differential would be borne the department but the Agriculture Department refused.

Ombudsman Punjab Javed Mahmood, in the light of the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, has constituted Ombudsman Jail Inspection Committees for all districts and tehsils of the province. Ombudsman Jail Inspection Committees at district and tehsil level have made first inspection visit of district/tehsil sub-jails and started preparing report on the state of affairs of the jails for onward submission to Supreme Court.

The Federal Ombudsman’s office has decided complaints filed by 152,000 Pakistanis living abroad over the past two years and at present there is no complaint pending a decision. Moreover, it has been decided that video link facility will be provided to overseas Pakistanis for the hearing of their complaints.

2015-06-24ACRC Korea and Commonwealth Ombudsman sign MoU
The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) of Korea (Chairman Sungbo Lee) and the Commonwealth Ombudsman of Australia (Ombudsman Colin Neave) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Canberra on June 10th, 2015 in order to enhance rights and interests of Koreans and Australians living in the other country and cooperation between the two Ombudsmen.

On 29 October 2015, Hong Kong Ombudsman Connie Lau, announced at the 19th Ombudsman’s Awards Presentation Ceremony that the Immigration Department (ImmD) has won this year’s Grand Award, while the Correctional Services Department (CSD) and the Legal Aid Department (LAD) are the runners-up. Individual awards were given to 50 public officers for their outstanding performance in providing quality customer service. A research by the Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman published today shows that just one-third of people that are unhappy after using a public service actually make a complaint, despite an overwhelming number feeling that they should.The research is based on the results of a national survey, which questioned 4,263 people and focused on the public's attitude over the last 12 months to complaining about those public services, such as the NHS in England, which the ombudsman service investigates in the event of unresolved complaints.
