Polish Commissioner for Human Rights discovered alarming case of deprivation of liberty in psychiatric facility during one of his preventive visits. A citizen was placed in the mental hospital for stealing a bike. This happened 10 years ago by a court decision that was based on the opinion of a psychologist who had not even examined the patient.

Ombudsman for Bermuda elected new Caribbean Director and Regional President of IOI
The Ombudsman for Bermuda, Ms Victoria Pearman, has been elected to represent the Caribbean and Latin America as Caribbean Director of the IOI. She will serve as Regional President for the IOI’s Caribbean & Latin American Region. In this role, she will participate in meetings of the IOI Executive Committee and work closely with the two Directors for Latin America to manage regional matters and coordinate activities.

Violencia obstétrica en prisión
La violencia obstétrica es una modalidad particular de discriminación y de violencia de género que afecta de manera transversal al conjunto de las mujeres en el embarazo, el parto y el posparto. Un informe recomienda que se tomen medidas alternativas al encierro carcelario para las mujeres embarazadas y con hijos pequeños.
