Ombudsman for Children’s Office publishes “Tomorrow Starts with Us” children’s survey
The Ombudsman for Children’s Office (OCO) commissioned "Tomorrow Starts with Us", a survey carried out with Amárach Research to mark the OCO’s 20th Anniversary. The cost of living, mental health services and future housing needs are the top three concerns for over 1,000 secondary school students who took part in the survey.

Toronto’s Ombudsman reports on first year of office’s new Housing Unit, underscores human right to housing
On 19 July 2024, Toronto’s Ombudsman Kwame Addo released an update on the work his office’s new Housing Unit has done during its first year of operation. Established in July of 2023, the Housing Unit at Ombudsman Toronto investigates and reviews the planning and delivery of the City of Toronto’s housing services, policies, and programs to make sure they are fair and uphold Torontonians’ human right to adequate housing.

Parliamentary Ombudsman submitted Annual Report 2023 to Speaker of Parliament
On 25 June 2024, Parliamentary Ombudsman Petri Jääskeläinen submitted his Annual Report 2023 to Speaker of Parliament Jussi Halla-aho. In 2023, there were a total of 7,124 complaints (6,613 in 2022). This is just over 500 (7.7%) more than the previous year. The largest number of complaints concerned social welfare 1,136 (997), the police 855 (821), healthcare 803 (751) and criminal sanctions 591 (672). In the reporting year, 6,876 complaints were resolved. The corresponding figure in 2022 was 6,857.
