2025-05-02David Baele appointed as new President of Ombudsman.be
The Board of Directors of Ombudsman.be has appointed Federal Ombudsman David Baele as the new President of the Belgian Network of Ombudsmen. He succeeds Marc Bertrand. The network will continue to strengthen cooperation and make ombudsman services even more accessible to citizens and businesses, helping them more easily to find the right ombudsman when facing issues with public services or companies.

2025-07-24Ombudsman tables Special Report on Marine and Ports
Michael DeSilva, the Ombudsman for Bermuda, has submitted a Special Report to the Speaker of the House of Assembly. The report, entitled "Between a Dock and a Hard Place: An Investigation into Marine and Ports' Failure to Implement a Planning Condition for a Mooring Registration", follows an investigation into a complaint made by the children of a local fisherman who had moored his boat in a cove for over six decades. The report concerns the Department of Marine and Ports Services' failure to implement key recommendations addressing a decades-long administrative error that has left a local fishing family without access to their mooring.

The purpose of making this report available internationally is to inform peer institutions about the most important aspects of the institution's work and, in doing so, pave the way for future exchanges of concerns and best practices among Ombuds institutions that share the common goal of advancing citizens' rights.
