On 8 March 2024, the NSW Ombudsman’s report A map of automated decision-making in the NSW Public Sector was tabled in Parliament. The special report under section 31 of the Ombudsman Act 1974 is an initiative by the NSW Ombudsman to increase visibility in the use of automated decision-making systems across the NSW public sector.

Ombudsman engages Government on farm input subsidy investigation findings
The Office of the Ombudsman has presented to the Ministry of Agriculture, preliminary findings of its Systemic Investigation on the Implementation of the Affordable Inputs Programme for the 2022/23 and 2023/2024 growing seasons. Ombudsman Grace Malera led a team from her Office to interface with Agriculture Minister Sam Kawale, Ministry Officials and others from the Smallholder Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi.

Les 10° et 11° rapports en commission
Après avoir remis officiellement les rapports annuels 2021 et 2022 aux Présidents des Parlements le 24 janvier dernier, il est de tradition que ces rapports soient examinés par les différentes commissions parlementaires. Ce lundi 11 mars, le Médiateur de la Wallonie et de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Marc Bertrand, a entamé ce parcours par la commission de la Fonction publique, du Tourisme et du Patrimoine.

Falta de personal y de reactivos complican atención oportuna a pacientes con dengue en hospital de Huarmey
La oficina de la Defensoría del Pueblo en Áncash demandó la intervención inmediata de la Dirección Regional de Salud (Diresa) ante la grave situación de falta de personal y de insumos por la que viene atravesando el Hospital de Apoyo de Huarmey, lo que impide atender de manera eficiente la gran cantidad de pacientes contagiados por dengue que ingresan semanalmente a dicho nosocomio.

Defensoría capacita a universitarios sobre participación ciudadana y derecho al sufragio
Una capacitación sobre la importancia de la participación ciudadana y el derecho al sufragio realizaron los Oficiales de Derechos Humanos de la Defensoría del Pueblo a estudiantes de la Universidad Interamericana de Panamá, en el marco del convenio entre la entidad y el Tribunal Electoral para promover estos derechos humanos.

La Defensoría del Pueblo recomendó reformar los procesos de inclusión y discapacidad en el sistema educativo
Los defensores del Pueblo de Santa Fe a/c, Jorge Henn y Gabriel Savino, recomendaron al ministerio de Educación arbitrar los medios necesarios para iniciar un proceso participativo de revisión normativa de la resolución 1290, que establece los modos de intervención de las escuelas inclusivas, en todos sus niveles, dictada en setiembre de 2023, como asimismo la presentación de una propuesta de reforma.

DPU launches Observatory on Violence Against Women
On Thursday 7 March 2024, the Federal Public Defenders’ Office (DPU) launched the Observatory on Violence Against Women. The Observatory will develop strategies to improve the DPU's actions in relation to all forms of violence and to promote human rights. Also, it will soon be possible to submit complaints through this DPU channel.
