In a joint statement on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Nils Muiznieks, Chair of the Council of Europe’s European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI); Morten Kjaerum, Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA); and Janez Lenarčič, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), strongly condemned manifestations of racism and related intolerance.

Japanese Earthquake
The I.O.I. has been shocked and extremely saddened to learn of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that struck parts of Japan. Alberta Ombudsman Button leaves I.O.I. Board
Alberta Ombudsman Gord Button resigned from his position as a Director representing the North American Region on the Board of Directors of the I.O.I. In the previous membership year Gord Button acted as Treasurer of the I.O.I. and significantly contributed to the success of the Institute.
